The first guitar Brooks West picked up was dug out from underneath his Uncle’s bed when he was 14. Since then, this Fargo North Dakota native has gone on to write hundreds of songs, blending elements of contemporary folk, country, and pop.
The son of a mortician and a 4-H leader, Brooks has a unique outlook on life that shapes his eclectic repertoire. His songs cover subjects ranging from Corvettes to meditation and everything in between. Over the past thirty years, Brooks has performed in coffee shops, bars, colleges, festivals, concert halls, and benefits across a good portion of the country. Some career highlights have included National Anthem performances for Minor League Baseball , roller derbies, and rodeos as well as opening slots for such nationally known acts as Grammy Award winner, Doc Watson, Ingrid Michaelson, The Duhks, Dan Bern, Brennen Leigh, The Roches, KellyJoe Phelps, Horsefeathers, Jeff Lang, Ingrid Michaelson, Shawn Mullins and more.
Brooks currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee where he continues to play and write.
